BagPal
is a compact, ergonomic handle designed to make carrying groceries easier, especially for students and city dwellers without reliable transportation. BagPal features a wide grip with finger ridges, a detachable strap for shoulder support, and sliding locks to keep bags balanced and secure.
Our user-centered design was informed by interviews with frequent shoppers and grocery store employees, online surveys completed by peers, and expert feedback from an occupational therapist.
Key design decisions, such as adding a strap and using injection molding for affordability, were guided by iterative prototyping, data analysis, and empathy-driven research. We also explored branding, financial planning, and go-to-market strategies targeting college students.
This project sharpened my skills in collaborative design, user research, product storytelling, and financial modeling. Most importantly, it reminded me how impactful thoughtful, everyday innovation can be.
